Todd Milbourn
Todd Milbourn joined the news team in December 2009 as a reporter and senior producer.
Before moving to Oregon, Milbourn lived in Prague, where he taught English and covered European politics for Czech Business Weekly, a leading business magazine there. He spent three years at The Sacramento Bee, writing about everything from forest fires to political scandals and the travails of a mountain town with no telephone service. At The Modesto Bee, his expose of a crooked mortgage lender-turned-philanthropist landed the huckster in jail and led to a new state law protecting borrowers. Another investigation, of a rendering factory that skirted environmental laws for decades, played a role in the shuttering of the company. Milbourn has covered politics for the Minneapolis Star Tribune’s D.C. bureau, crime for the Duluth News-Tribune and served as editor-in-chief of his college paper at the University of Minnesota, where he graduated in 2001 with a B.A. in political science. His investigative reporting has been honored by the Society of Professional Journalists, the Associated Press News Executives Council, the California Newspaper Publishers Association and others. Milbourn is a native of Green Bay, Wisconsin and, yes, he's a Packers fan. He lives in the Whiteaker neighborhood of Eugene with his fiancé, Lisa, a creative writing grad student at UO. Away from work, Milbourn can usually be found working on his hook shot at the UO rec center, enjoying a brew at Sam Bond’s or annoying his neighbors with his incessant harmonica practice.
