Katie Boer joined the KPIC news team as an Anchor/ Reporter in August of 2009.

She comes from the Pacific Northwest wetlands, also known as Seattle, Washington.

Katie graduated from Biola University, in sunny southern California. In two and a half years, she graduated college with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. At Biola she developed, produced, anchored and reported her own sports show “Eagle Zone” for her college television station.

Before graduating, she served as a sports writer and contributor for “The Chimes” newspaper and “The Point” magazine.

During her first year at Biola she was a sports intern for KABC-TV, covering everything from the Angels winning the AL West Division Title to the Summer X Game 13 in Los Angeles. The following summer she went back to her Seattle roots, working in the sports department for the NBC affiliate, KING-TV in Seattle, Washington. Before graduating college, she accepted her first on-air position as a Sports Anchor for Garden Grove City Cable in Orange County.

A former Ballgirl for the Seattle Mariners and an avid sports fan, you can find her following her beloved Mariners and Seahawks. While she’s not reporting Katie also spends her time at the gym, biking or running in local competitions, and reading.

Although she can’t imagine life as anything other than a reporter, if she wasn’t anchoring the news she would consider practicing law or sports medicine.

Someday she plans to work towards getting her pilot's license.
