December Heart Gallery child

By Shelley Kurtz

The holidays are right around the corner and one little boy is making his wish list for Santa Claus.

Ten year old Austin is giving Santa just five seconds to find him his forever family.

When the camera is on him, it seems as though he has the energy of two ten year old boys.

Austin is in his element... outdoors, playing, maybe showing off a bit. He has a lot to be proud of. This little guy has had a very good year. In the fall, his soccer team did well and he was in the newspaper for cooking up unusual vegetables.

Austin is quite the helper around the kitchen. We got in and made some Christmas cookies. Austin told me he's cooking at school and just learned to make taffy.

Austin talked to me about his dream for a forever family. He wants brothers and sisters in a family that will also let him have a puppy.

Austin's Case Worker, Brian Gorrin says with support from his foster family and counselors, Austin has come a long way in improving his own behavior. He has a lot to give the family that is committed to him. If they let him get a little dirty and not take things too seriously, that would be a bonus.

For more information about Austin, you can call 686-7555 and ask for the Adoption Worker of the Day. You can also learn about Austin, by going to the Heart gallery Website at lanecountyheartgallery.org/

The Heart Gallery can be seen this month at Gateway Mall/ Levi Struass, Friendly Street Market, Eugene Airport, Oakway Center, Ray's Food Market in Creswell and US Bank Branches.
