Cody and Madison are looking for their Forever Family

By KVAL News

Summer time is a great time to do new things. One brother and sister hope one new thing they'll do this summer, is be placed with their forever family.

Cody and Madison are up for adoption and they are two terrific kiddos.
Near downtown Eugene, 8 year old Cody and 5 year old Madison have come to learn to throw pottery.

Cody is quite good with his hands, so we wanted to give him something to do that would be creative and give him a bit of a challenge.

Josh Allen of "ClaySpace" offered up lessons and an opportunity to share his love for throwing pottery with Cody and Madison.

Josh did a great job of explaining everything to the children. He picked up a line of wire that removed the just finished clay cup from the wheel, "It makes this design when you cut it off. Puts these little marks on the clay. It's kind of cool."

Both children were really curious. They had never seen this kind of thing before. After their quick lesson, Cody took the wheel to give it a try.

Cody is going into the 3rd grade in the fall. Madison will be a kindergartener.

They recently completed an adoption preparation class and are beginning to understand what it will mean to them.

Josh coached Cody, "No more wobble, that's perfect."

The children's caseworker, Brandyn Miller thinks the parents who adopt these two will get two terrific children. Says Miller, of the two children, "They come across as quiet at first. Madison's a talker....she's outgoing a little bit more the outgoing one. Cody tends to be a little more reserved about things."

Miller says, typical of a lot of brothers and sisters, they do pick on each other."They really like to push each others buttons. Its one of their outlets for some of their anger and frustration with each other. They're working in counseling on these sorts of issues."

Cody is all boy. He likes skateboarding, he has a snake and likes playing his guitar. We had a little time to talk. "And what songs do you play? "I can play 'Smoke on the Water' and 'Ironman'"
"And those are good places to start."

Even if she's the talkative one, on this day, Madison was a girl of few words. But she did reveal a few things.

She loves playing with her Barbie's.

"What do you do at your house?"

"Barbie's"

'Oh Barbie's...how many do you have? A few, one?"

"A lot."

Miller says, the parents who would be perfect for these children are those who are patient, very structured and have strong parenting skills. And, if they'd be OK with having snakes, for pets, Cody would like that (A LOT!)
