In this morning’s Heart Gallery report, a LaneCounty teenager is looking for a family that lives in the Pacific Northwest. Matthew has lived in Washington and now Oregon....and as Shelley Kurtz reports he says, he's ready for his new home.

For more information about Wesley, Alyssa and Tony call the Heart Gallery at: 343-2856.

August locations are: Valley River Center, Market of Choice 29th & Willamette St., Kendall Auto Group, Eugene Airport, Gateway Mall, and Friendly Street Market.

Matt is enjoying a laid-back day-camp at the center. We stopped for a moment to pick some apples. The kids do different activities every day....Matt's especially fond of the horses.

("I want to live on a farm, when I get a new home. I love farm animals, especially horses.")

Matt has lived with foster mom, Becky Garner and her husband for ten months. She is thrilled with the progress he's made since he's been in her home and says, he's more than ready for a home of his own.

("He's ready, he's so ready, he's so eager for that permanent placement.")

Matt talks easily about his problem areas and how he's working it out.

("I'm going to have troubles, but I'm going to get thru them.")

(What do you do now, when you have frustrations?" "Ask for staff support.” "So, you ask for staff support and you're able to get thru it?" "Yeah.")

Matt has given a lot of thought to what he wants in his new family.

("Ones that have a good home, ones that can take care of me really well and I would like to be in a home where I can do chores and be paid. Allowance? Yeah.")

Matt played baseball last spring....and loved it....he also is a pretty good runner...

("If anything, I would like to play baseball, Are you pretty fast? Yes...I ran the 8 minute 5 second mile, yesterday.")

Foster mom, Becky says, Matt is a positive child....whatever he's doing he will find something to love about it....he says he loves being a big brother.... and a two parent family would work well for him. But for the most part....she says, he just wants to be loved.

("He wants to be a normal kid in a normal family.")

And, for Matt....it couldn't happen soon enough.
