Baker City man arrested after bank robbery in Glide, Ore.
Law enforcement arrested Paul Helgerson and charged him with the bank robbery. By KPIC.com staffGLIDE, Ore. - A Baker City man faces charges he robbed a bank in Glide on Wednesday morning before being found hiding in a wooded area near the bank. Paul Helgerson, 32, faces charges of first degree theft and third degree robbery. He also faces an outstanding Douglas County warrant for first degree theft and second degree forgery. At about 10:11 a.m., the 911 center received a report of a holdup alarm coming from Premier West Bank in Glide, Ore. Sheriff's deputies, Bureau of Land Management Law Enforcement and Roseburg Police responded to the bank. Bank employees said that a male subject had entered the bank and told a teller he was robbing the bank and to put the money into a bag. The man then left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. Officers began canvassing the area looking for the suspect that was described by bank employees. The responding officers were assisted by a citizen who called 911 reporting she saw the suspect near her home on S. Estelle Street. At about 10:54 a.m., the suspect was located hiding in a wooded area a short distance from the bank. |
