WINSTON, Ore. -- It's Civil War season again, and people all over Oregon are getting ready for the big game, but they're not the only ones.
The animals at the Wildlife Safari have decided who they are backing for the Civil War, and they had no problem showing off their school spirit at an event on Saturday.
Festivities kicked off at noon, with a kickoff contest between Alice and George the elephants, to see who could boot the football further.
Alice was rooting for the Beavers, and George was pulling for the Ducks. Even though George took a play right out of the Cal Bears playbook and pretended to be injured, Alice didn't let up, and the competition was rough.
The two elephants had done so well that the referee called it a tie, and both animals won themselves a tasty trophy.
But, the elephants weren't the only ones preparing for the Civil War, the cheetahs got into game day spirit by decorating.
Taini and Sanurra painted a picture of their favorite team. So, whether it's an elephant who loves his Ducks or a cheetah who's a Beaver Believer, the Safari is ready for the Civil War.
If you are interested in buying a cheetah creation, the masterpieces depicting the animal's school spirit are available for purchase at the park.
