The boys scouts met up on the mountain for Klondike Days over the weekend, and they made the TV show 'Survivor' look easy.

400 men and boys gathered Friday and Saturday night at the 45 hundred foot elevation level in the Cascade mountains.

Most brought tents and heaters along, but some scouts made snow caves and slept in them.

Scoutmaster Mike Speer explained the process.

"We were kinda chopping the blocks and fitting them together. We used an ax, and of course the saws. We're about eight and a half by eight and a half, and I guess we're, what about seven and a little bit, about seven feet and a little bit high."

Each group had a campfire going, and lunch was signaled by the shooting of a vintage rifle.

Organizer Steve Mountainspring:

"We're about 400 people here, playing in the snow, learning survival skills, practicing cool things like ravine crossings, fire by flint and steel, shooting inanimate objects at real people, things like that. "

Several camps are spread out among the trees as the groups spread out for lunch.

In between events, some found time to sled off the ODOT roof at the Klondike Boy Scout event over the weekend.

After camping in the snow, the groups came off the mountain to more snow at home.
