Roseburg - The Roseburg city council took a big step towards building the city's new Public Safety building, by awarding the bid to a Coos Bay construction company for the $18 million dollar building.

The Harmon Construction Company from Coos Bay submitted the winning bid for under 12-million dollars.

It included some upgrades to the original plan.

Three bidders competed for the project which is to begin construction next month, with a projected completion time for next March.

City Manager Eric Swanson says;
"I'm excited, I think the information data will show that this was a good time, good timing in terms of getting the bids."

Swanson says two out of the three bids came in under the proposed budget for the new public safety building and the council awarded the contract to the lowest bidder.

Mayor Larry Rich said, "That'll be our biggest project coming up next year, and it's probably the biggest project in a long time for the city of Roseburg."
