A horse rescue east of Roseburg is trying to save the lives of some horses that were brought in recently in a fragile state and way underweight.

The two new horses were brought to the Strawberry Mountain Mustang facility, and operators of the ranch say the two were close to death with compromised organ and extremely anemic. One horse was estimated to be about 400 pounds underweight.

The two being nursed back to health with food and medical care, but the owners of the facility say it's getting costly, and they're looking for any donations for the care of the two horses.

Contributions can be sent to Strawberry Mountain Mustangs at P.O. Box 2133 in Roseburg.

Strawberry Mountain Mustangs is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Dixonville about 7 miles east of Roseburg.
