Talent show to replace Rickett's Revue
By KPIC Web Staff
Roseburg, Ore. - The Rickett's Revue talent show is gone from the Douglas County Fair, but there is a new talent show in it's place.
After so many years of the famous Rickett's Revue as the Saturday night entertainment during the fair, it's no wonder someone had the passion to bring it back. This talent show is called Entertainment Extraordinaire, and the finals will be on Saturday night during fair week. Karen Collier from K.C.B. Dance has taken on the challenge, and she is excited to continue what has been a tradition for so many years here in Douglas County. "It means a lot to me, because as a performer, I've been on the stage, at the fair I've been in the finals, so to know how that feels to be on stage and to have the audience cheering for you, the lights and the crowd. That was so fulfilling as a student and now as a teacher, watching my girls make it to the finals, that's fulfilling. I just didn't want the community to not have that." The preliminaries will be at the half shell in Stewart Park next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and will start at 5:00 p.m. each evening. The semi-finals are at 1:00 p.m. on the Saturday of the fair, and then finals are at 8:00 p.m. that same evening on the Umpqua stage. All registration forms are due this Friday morning, and you can pick up and drop off forms at West Harvard Furniture, Wisdom and Wellness in Winchester, Absolute Sound, and Hansen's Jewlers. |
