On Oct. 1, a search warrant was served at 3519 Umpqua Highway 99 in Drain as part of an investigation conducted by police in Lane County and the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT). The investigation regarded a large marijuana growing operation that involved several properties in Lane and Douglas Counties.

Police located three people at the Drain property, who were identified as Drain resident Seth Carlile, 41, and two residents of Lane County, 41-year-old Wanda Braack and her 18-year-old son Dalton Braack.

During the search, police found four separate grow sites on the property, which is about 125 acres in size. The grow sites were set up to circulate marijuana plants from incubation through maturity and harvesting. A total of about 400 live plants were found, as well as 20 pounds of processed marijuana.

Police also found a large amount of stolen property during the search from three different counties in Oregon. A pickup truck stolen from Jackson County, a Kubota utility vehicle stolen from Lane County and a John Deere excavator stolen from Linn County were recovered.

Timothy Bass, 31, was found at a residence in Lane County and arrested for his involvement in the growing operation. Bass will also likely be facing charges in Lane County in relation to the thefts.

Based on evidence found and statements from the suspects, the property in Douglas County has been used to produce multiple cycles of marijuana for the past two years. Police believe the grow operation in Douglas County has netted over $150,000 in 2008 alone.

The search warrants served in Lane County revealed other marijuana growing operations. Altogether, about 700 marijuana plants were seized.

Bass and Carlile were arrested on charges related to the marijuana grow, as well as for stolen property.

Wanda and Dalton Braack were arrested on charges related to the marijuana grow, and all four were taken to the Douglas County Jail.
