The Oregon Department of Transportation warns motorists to remain vigilant while driving in northern Douglas County and counties to the north of us, with more bad weather on the way.

With 1-4 inches of snow expected to hit the valley floor here tonight, and continue on into Thursday, officials say you should drive cautiously wherever you go.

ODOT says spots of ice on the roadways continue to surprise drivers.

Several vehicle crashes have been reported in the icy area from Curtin through Cottage Grove and on into Lane County.

ODOT asks motorists to be patient and maintain slow, safe speeds while temperatures remain below freezing.

You should check road conditions and weather forecasts before you travel.

Remember that it is always a good idea to drive with your lights on, especially in foggy, rainy or snowy weather any time of the day.

We will be here early Thursday morning to bring you the latest updates on school closures and delays, check back here at our Web site, and also get the latest on our early morning news updates starting at 6:50 a.m.
