ROSEBURG, Ore. -- There was a close call for two men, whose boat got stuck in the middle of the river late Friday afternoon.

Rescuers were called to a location about two miles east of Wilbur, after a report of a boat getting stuck on a log in rapid flowing water in the middle of the North Umpqua River.

Douglas County water rescue team and the marine patrol boat, along with Fire District 2 swift water rescue team found two men still in the boat that was wedged against a log.

The owner, Brett Agost, a former Roseburg resident, was in the boat along with another man.

He told the rescue team that he wanted to wait for their friend to bring his jet boat up from Winchester, and get them un-stuck.

The jet boat, belonging to Scott Woodruff, got hung up in a shallow spot and the Sheriff's boat had to help that boat get loose.

As it was starting to get dark, the sheriff's deputies finally told the two that they needed to leave the boat and come back later to get it.

No one was injured, but rescuers warn that many areas of the river are dangerous with the logs, rocks and stringers that are just under the water and out of sight.
