GLENDALE, Ore. -- Douglas County Sheriff's officers are asking people in the Glendale area to be on the lookout for a man who residents say suspiciously approached their children in front of their home.

Authorities received a call Monday from a woman whose kids were playing in their yard when a man in a black Toyota pickup pulled in the driveway and started talking with the kids.

Sheriff's Office spokesman Deputy Dwes Hutson said, "The older girl realized that she wasn't supposed to be talking to strangers, so she ran back in the house to get the mother, who promptly came outside."

Once she got outside the truck sped off down the street.

The man is described as a male in his 20's wearing sunglasses and having facial hair, possibly a goatee.

The description of the man and the vehicle are similar to a person of interest in the Glendale area shooting last month.

"We obviously have no way of knowing if it's connected or if it's the same person. Again, another good reason for us to inform the public and let them know that this happened in case this individual is still cruising around the Glendale area, so that maybe someone will spot him and give us a call.

Sheriff's officers would like you to call them if you have any information on the incident.
