EUGENE, Ore. -- Storm a-coming: High winds followed by drenching rain on the coast Thursday, and with 2 to 4 feet of snow in the mountains this weekend after the freezing level falls to road-level by Friday morning.

Sniff. Summer is really over, isn't it?

But first: Good news for folks counting down the storms to ski season: Forecasts call for 2 to 4 feet of snow at and above mountain passes Friday through Sunday, with the freezing level down to the passes by Friday morning.

WIND GUSTS UP TO 60 MPH: The National Weather Service issued a high wind watch for the Coos Bay/North Bend area through Thursday night with sustained winds of 45 mph possible and gusts as high as 60 mph.

RAIN: Forecasters expect 1 to 3 inches of rain along the north and central Oregon Coast Thursday.

Winds will be lower in the Willamette Valley, with sustained winds of 25 mph possible Thursday afternoon. Rain is expected through the weekend.
