DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- There was a close call on southbound I-5 Wednesday afternoon when a man was pulled over to the side of the freeway and was hit by a van.

The man had pulled over near milepost 116 because of possible mechanical problems, then his wife pulled over as well and accidentally pinned her husband's leg between the tire and the van.

Oregon State Police Trooper Kevin Bennett said, "An unfortunate event, it's obvious that his wife did not intentionally strike him. However, make sure you use good judgment at all times, even when your off the road."

Medics on the scene said the injury to the man's leg was minor and he should be fine.
