ROSEBURG, Ore. -- It's starting to look a little more like the holidays with the Christmas tree arriving at the Douglas County Courthouse.

The nearly 40 foot tree was set up earlier Tuesday morning outside the steps of the courthouse.

Public Works has been fertilizing several trees in Douglas County, and cut down the Douglas Fir from county owned property on Roberts Creek.

The tree is typically put up about two weeks prior to Thanksgiving, and the county facilities department plans to spend the remainder of the week decorating it.

County Maintenance Technician, Ryan Mosczynski, said "Well, today were just gettting started on the tree and we will probably have only three people here all day, but for the rest of the time, its gonna take the remainder of the crew."

Besides the tree, the county also decorates with garland around the courthouse, and hangs a wreath on the back of the Justice Department.

The total decoration time is close to 200 man hours.

Mosczynski said this year's tree is slightly smaller then trees in the past, due to difficulty in decorating and windy storm weather.

This year, he says there's about 3,500 lights being strung on the fir tree.
