Teen girl, 17, dropped off at Coos Bay hospital, declared dead

COOS BAY, Ore. - Police are investigating the death of a North Bend girl after a private driver dropped her off at Bay Area Hospital Saturday morning.

The girl was non-responsive when she arrived at the hospital.

The Coos County Medical Examiner identified the girl as Jenna Bowling, 17. She was pronounced dead just after 11 a.m. on Saturday.

The circumstances of Bowling's death are not known. Based upon initial information received from the hospital, the Coos County Major Crime Team was activated, as well several other local law agencies.

Bowling had been at a residence located at 1690 Ocean Blvd. immediately prior to her being taken to the hospital and officers conducted a search at the home later Saturday evening.

The cause of death has not been determined at this time. Police are asking anyone with information regarding this matter to contact the Coos Bay Police Department.
