ELKTON, Ore. -- A decomposed human body in an Oregon State Beavers sweatshirt was found near Elkton along the Umpqua River on Friday, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.

The dead person's gender could not be determined due to advanced decomposition. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 9.

The only description of the body offered by the sheriff's office was that the person had long black hair with grey streaks and was wearing an OSU Beavers sweatshirt.

A ranch owner out checking fences discovered the body near the high-water line of the Umpqua River.

Deputies responded to the Highway 38 ranch around 3:35 p.m. Friday to investigate.
