WINCHESTER, Ore. -  A Sutherlin High School junior has won the title of  Central Douglas County Junior Miss after beating out 20 other girls competing for the title Saturday night at Umpqua Community College.

16-year-old Brooke Nichole Painter won the title of 2011 Junior Miss, and was awarded a $2,000 scholarship for winning.  She was also awarded a $1,500 scholarship from Umpqua Community College.

Painter did a Tahitian Hula Dance for her talent.  She said she was thrilled to win the title with so many talented girls competing.

It was the largest group of  competitors ever for the Douglas County pageant, and it drew a big crowd to Jacoby Auditorium for the event.

The first alternate received a$1,000 scholarship, and the other three finalists each got $500 scholarships.

The girls, who are all juniors in Douglas County schools, compete in talent, fitness, and self-expression.

Micky Hall, a teacher at Roseburg High School was the M.C. for the event, along with last year's Junior Miss Anna Swenson.

Painter goes on to compete in the Oregon Junior Miss competition in August.  The national competition is held in Alabama.
