Another author graced the halls of the Veterans Healthcare campus Monday to discuss her book entitled 'Accepting the Ashes', an autobiography of her life with her father, a Viet Nam veteran diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

The VA Medical Center's campus was the back-drop to a discussion about one family's dysfunction brought on by the undiagnosed mental anguish called PTSD.

Quynn Elizabeth spoke of her late father,

''He was a wonderful father, and I always knew he tried, you know, and so then the ways in which he wasn't able to come through in certain ways, it became clearer (he was suffering from PTSD).''

Quynn says the book was very healing for herself as she learned what her dad went through and how he coped with the stress of everyday life carrying such a psychological load of unresolved issues.

''Having to put it into words for other people, really helped me understand why my family went the way it did in that direction and it put it into context.''

The 52 page book may be found at the VA Medical Center by asking for a copy and a minimum donation.

Quynn's father died in 2004 having fresh bouts with depression and doubts that surfaced around the Iraq war and the memories that surfaced.

Several websites are listed in the back of the book such as ptsdsupport.net for those dealing with post traumatic stress syndrome.
