MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. -- Early Monday morning, 28-year-old Ashley Clift drove into oncoming traffic on Highway 38 west of Sutherlin, collided with a log truck being driven by Kelly Kremer, 56, of Myrtle Creek.

Ashley was pronounced dead at the scene, but Kremer was able to escape with only minor injuries.

While the accident was traumatic, Kremer says he was able to handle what happened thanks to the kindness and professionalism of the first responders on scene.

"Total professionalism, 100 percent outstanding care on the scene," Kremer told KPIC News. "I feel like my recovery time will be less. I don't know what they make, but they all deserve a raise."

Kremer also wanted to remind drivers to pay attention when they're behind the wheel.
