Sheriff: Man stabs roomie in neck over heat and AC

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A 64-year-old man stabbed his roommate in the neck with a screwdriver after an altercation about the heat and air conditioner being on at the same time, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.

The sheriff's office said that just before 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, deputies were called to a residence in the 100 block of Club Street for a disturbance.

Jeffery Scott Iverson, 38, was reported to have been stabbed in the neck with a screwdriver, the sheriff's office said.

According to Iverson, his roommate Everett Allen Bryan attacked him after he scolded Bryan about having the heat and air conditioner on at the same time.

Iverson was transported to Mercy Medical Center, where officials said he was treated and released.

Bryan was lodged in the Douglas County Jail and charged with third degree assault, unlawful use of a dangerous weapon and menacing.

According to the Sheriff's Office website, he is not eligible for bail.
