Sheriff: Condon death being investigated as suicide

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- The Douglas County Sheriff's Office now says the incident involving the death of Martin Condon, 53, of Riddle, is being investigated as a suicide.

Deputies were called to the Condon home on Canyonville-riddle Road by Martin's wife last Wednesday, when she called 911 and reported that her husband had shot himself.

Police and EMS personnel tried to save Mr. Condon, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Detectives with DCSO and Roseburg police have been looking into the death, and say that due to the ongoing investigation, no more details will be released at this time.
