ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Valentine's Day. For most people it means love, but for some local businesses it means a huge boost in sales.
KPIC News stopped by Umpqua Sweets and Treats in Roseburg Thursday morning before they were supposed to open, but store co-owner Bonnie Cooper says they'd already made a handful of sales.
The store features fudge, truffles, and dozens of assorted chocolate goodies.
Valentine's Day sales are tied with Christmas for the busiest of the year, and Cooper says that helps to keep the store open year round. "Valentine's Day is our largest day sales-wise all year long, so we kind of look to Valentine's Day to kind of make up for those long winter days."
Between 250 and 300 people have stopped by the store in the past few days, and Cooper says that's more than in years past.
