ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Roseburg restaurant owner is going above and beyond to feed local residents.

Misty Inda-Russell's passion is food. "It feels like a natural fit to me to feed people," she said.

Misty is the owner of Brix lounge in Roseburg.

Earlier this week, she started a program called 'Turning the Table on Hunger.'

For every few tables the restaurant 'turns,' or serves, Misty will donate a box of food to UCAN.

"I feel really strongly about making sure that people are not hungry, especially in my very own community," Misty told KPIC News. "I make my living off food, and so it just feels like a natural thing to want to also make sure other people have enough to eat."

Every time you sit down to a meal at Brix, you're not the only one who's getting fed. "Even sometimes if going out to eat is a luxury and a treat for themselves, that, a little sideline, they're also helping to feed somebody else a meal."

The program will be running during the restaurants morning hours, as well as the newly added dinner hours from in the Brix Lounge expansion. "We're really excited to support the community," she said. "We feel that the community has been very good to us."

Misty says that she'll be delivering the first food boxes this week.
