ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A local man has opened a new bar in Roseburg, serving mostly local products.
Sam Esslinger loves his job. He started brewing beer more than a decade ago.
What started as a hobby home brewing has grown.
He now owns a brewery in Tenmile, and last week, he opened Draper's Draft House on Jackson Street in Roseburg. "I just wanted somewhere comfortable to be able to serve my beers and some other micro-brews," Sam told KPIC News.
Esslinger also sells local wines and cider, but says that beer is his passion. "I guess it kind of chose me. I've wondered that sometimes too, it's just what I was drawn to. The science behind it is very interesting to me, and it's just something I've always enjoyed doing since I've first started doing it," he said.
Sam isn't the only one who enjoys his product, and he says that the new pub was packed it's first few open days.
He's hoping that people will continue to come in and sample his creations. "There's a lot of people that appreciate good beer around here."
