Feel frustrated by the phone company? Sound off!
By Herb Weisbaum
SEATTLE -- Do you feel frustrated-- maybe annoyed with your telephone company? You're not alone.
The Federal Communications Commission gets a lot of complaints about phone service, both wireless and wired. And the agency wants to see what it can to do make things easier for phone customers. "As a consumer of communications services myself, I think I have a pretty good idea of some of the confusion when somebody walks into a store and tries to pick from a variety of plans, trying to make the best decision for themselves and often get too much information or no real tools to do a real good comparison," said Mark Stone with the FCC. So the FCC is asking for public comments about pre-purchase decision-making and service after the sale. You can sound off online or by phone, but you need to get moving -- the official comment period ends on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The commission is sure to hear from the industry and it really wants to hear from consumers. You can share your thought by going to www.FCC.gov or by calling 1-888-CALLFCC. "The bottom line is that we as regulators can't make good decisions unless we hear from people and that's what we're trying to do here," Stone said. |
