The Boom Cube is all about letting other people hear your tunes on the go, when headphones just won't do. But how much booming big sound can you really get for $10.99 plus tax?

The commercial promises "pumpin' bass and quality sound" from a 1-inch speaker on a key chain.

Set up is simple: It has a built-in, re-chargeable battery, stereo jack on a not-so-long cord that plugs into your music source, and an off and on switch. The jack fits most iPhones, MP3 players, laptops, tablets and desktop computers.

If you're a true audiophile, this is not for you. Remember the objective is to share the music experience with friends. I wouldn't call it "pumpin' bass" big sound, in fact during our test, the sound was actually on the tinny side.

However, if all you're looking for is non-electric, earphone-free, portable tune-sharing, it delivers. Not ingeniously cool, but for the fun factor, I'll give it 3 stars on a scale of 1 to 4.

Keep in mind, the marketing for Boom Cube clearly targets kids and teens and that's pretty much who I expect would find the device appealing. It comes in different colors and can be found at most retailers who carry "As Seen On TV" products.
