County residents can get a free lift Thursday

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- If you've ever wanted to hop on a bus and check out Douglas County, Thursday is the day to do it.

Umpqua Transit is partnering with UCAN to sponsor Free Bus Day.

The entire day, people can ride as much as that want on any U-Trans line for free.

The free day is in honor of Community Action Month, and officials said they wanted to show their riders a little love.

Officials say it's also a fun way to get out and explore all of the places U-Trans can take you.

But it's not just about getting a free ride. On average, about 700 people take the bus every day, and more will likely hop on Thursday.
