Prix Fixe Dinners coming back, gourmet food on a budget

WINCHESTER, Ore. -- If you have wine taste but a beer budget, you might want to check out the Prix Fixe dinner at UCC Thursday night.

The event is a final project for the Culinary Arts department, but it's open to the public.

The theme is 'A Night in Paris.'

Students will be serving a fresh, five-course French-inspired meal.

Chris Van Dyke, the director of the culinary arts program, says the dinner experience is a unique one, that doesn't just serve up some good food. "The students choose them menu, you buy the tickets, and it's the student's job to get out five courses in a timely manner."

Karen Malone is a student, and says not only is a great learning experience, the public can get a gourmet meal for a very reasonable price. "It's the cheapest 5-course meal you can have, and the best tasting," said Malone.

For $20, you can buy a ticket to this delightful dinner through UCC's Web site.

The event is being held in the Lang Center, and begins at 6:00 p.m.

If you miss Thursday's event, there are two other Prix Fixe dinners coming up in May.
