Geocaching brings crowds to Roseburg
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Over 100 people came to Roseburg this weekend to take part in the annual Geocaching event.
People started at the Sleep Inn and made their way to several locations around the city, looking for objects and answers to questions they had to find to fill their passports.
Organizers say about 90% of the people who took part in the event were not from the area, and KPIC News found two people who came all the way from Portland.
With improvements in GPS technology, geocaching has become more popular than ever.
"It teaches you that observation is not always what your powers think they are, because you could be staring at things and not even know that something is there that shouldn't be there," said one participant.
Once people completed the list of tasks, they returned to collect a medal which was unique to this event.
Even though the official event was on Saturday, anyone can participate whenever they like.
You can pick up a passport at the Roseburg Parks and Rec office, or the Sleep Inn.
