Blood drive comes not a moment too soon

Blood drive comes not a moment too soon

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- With dwindling donations and supplies due to the summer travel season, the Red Cross is hoping local blood drives will help replenish much needed levels.

ATRIO Health Plans is sponsoring a drive with the American Red Cross to help with the effort.

Officials say that blood supplies traditionally drop in summer, due to travel, outdoor activities and more accidents and injuries.

The Red Cross says all types of blood are needed, and say they were 50,000 units short of what they were hoping to get in June.

If you want to help by donating much-needed blood, you can make an appointment now for the drive.

It is happening on Wednesday, July 25, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It will be held in the ATRIO offices on Aviation Drive.

You can call 541-492-2157 to set up your appointment.
