Sutherlin Police Department joins locations with drug drop box

SUTHERLIN, Ore. -- The Sutherlin Police Department has joined several in the county, and many more in the state, to offer a prescription drug drop off site.
Officials say they will accept unwanted, expired or unused medications.
The department got a grant to fund the drop box, and officials say it will give Sutherlin area residents a safe way to properly dispose of the medications, keeping them from part of the water table.
Officials say that you can bring your medications to the Sutherlin Police Department regular business hours to drop them off.
You can drop off many different types of meds, including vitamins, human and pet medications.
Like the other sites, there are some restrictions on what types of medications are OK for disposal, such as needles and liquids.
If you have any questions regarding what kinds of medicine can be left, you can contact the Sutherlin Police department at 541-459-2211.
