COQUILLE, Ore. -The Pacific Connector Gas Pipeline, which would connect with the Jordan Cove LNG Terminal, takes another step closer this week.

Coos County Commissioners have agreed to adopt the Hearing Officer's recommendation for a land use permit but not without a long list of additional conditions.

Commissioners had a little more than two weeks to review a 150 page Recommendation Document and on Tuesday, they added more to the list.  Nearly 50 from the Planning Commission and a handful of their own.

According to Commissioner Bob Main, they have no control where the 234-mile pipeline will travel from North Bend, through Southeast Oregon, so all they can do is make sure that those in close proximity to it are protected.

Commissioner Nikki Witty said some of those conditions included addressing the risk to thinned out tree lines and blow overs and any possible damage caused to private well owners.

"The changes that the Planning Department suggested and the additional ones the board asked planning to put together for us, that will show up in our final order, they benefited property owners," said Whitty.

Spokesperson for Citizens Against LNG, Jody McCaffree says that while she believes the Commissioners raised some good concerns, there were just too many other things overlooked.  She says they're planning an appeal to the State Land Use Board of Appeals.
