ROSEBURG, Ore. - As the drug dog took an interest in the SUV, the driver ran away.

State troopers ran him down and put him under arrest, later jailing him on drug charges when the drug dog lead troopers to 100 pounds of marijuana inside the SUV.

The incident started around 1:20 a.m. Saturday when an Oregon State Police trooper stopped a 2004 Ford Expedition with California plates for possible traffic violations on Interstate 5.

When the drug dog alerted its handler to possible drugs, the driver ran away from the scene only to be taken into custody after a short chase.

When troopers searched inside the vehicle they found approximately 100 pounds of marijuana in three large boxes. Estimated value of the seized marijuana is $250,000.

Juan Carlos Rocha, 28, from Corning, Calif., was taken to the Douglas County Jail on charges of Unlawful Possession, Manufacture and Distribution of Marijuana and Misdemeanor Attempt to Elude on Foot.
