A second teenager has been arrested and charged with the murder of a Canyonville man.

The body of 27-year-old Kevin Omann was found in a gravel pit on a remote road near Milo in southeastern Douglas County on September 17th.

Family members began a search in the area after they hadn't seen him for several days. Omann's pickup was found, and a short time later searchers found his body nearby.

Police earlier arrested 16-year-old Austin Clark of Days Creek for the murder of Omann. They have now also arrested 17-year-old Charley Carnes of Tiller in connection with the murder.

He was arraigned Monday afternoon in a Douglas County courtroom, and charged with murder.

Court documents say Carnes told detectives he cut the throat of Omann to put him out of his misery, after Clark had hit Omann in the head with the blunt side of an axe.

Pro-temp Judge Bill Marshall ordered Carnes held without bail, and appointed an attorney to defend him.

Both teens will be tried in adult court, and face possible life in prison on the murder charge.
