PORTLAND, Ore. -- A republican candidate running for the US Senate just received a major endorsement from a national figure.

The former governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney, officially endorsed Jim Huffman, who is running against democratic incumbent Ron Wyden in Oregon's November election.

Huffman said he was grateful to have the full support of one of the nation's proven leaders.

Along with his endorsement, Romney also donated $5,000 to the Huffman campaign through his political action committee.

Huffman is a constitutional law teacher at Lewis and Clark College in Portland.
