Police: Roseburg teen spit in cop's face after resisting arrest
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says a Roseburg teen was jailed over the weekend on not only warrants, but fighting with police as they took him into custody.
Police say Steven Russel Meline, 19, was at a residence in the 100 block of Atkinson Court on Saturday morning, when an officer went there to follow up on a different matter.
The officer learned that Meline was there, and found out he had warrants for his arrest.
Meline allegedly gave the deputy a false name at first, and when he tried to take him into custody, police say he resisted arrest.
While being booked into the Douglas County Jail, police said that Meline spit in the officer's face and had to be subdued.
Meline is lodged at DCC with charges of resisting arrest and third degree assault, as well as many other charges, including unlawful possession of meth.
Bail is set at $126,250.
