EUGENE, Ore. - Barbara Collins says her prayers were unexpectedly answered on KVAL News Monday morning.
There on TV was Angel, the KVAL Pet of the Week.
"She was an answered prayer because our hearts have been hurting ever since our Princess Angel passed away," Barbara said.
Princess Angel, also a border collie, passed away in Barbara's husband Gary's lap April 15.
Their sadness was jolted into action as Gary was flipping the channel.
"She said, flip it back, I want to see that pet," Gary recalled. "I want that dog."
"And I said, 'No, no, no, flip that back. I want to check that dog out,' " Barbara said.
The 3 1/2-year-old bordie collie/Shar-Pei mix was available for adoption from Greenhill Humane Society.
"I couldn't believe it," Barbara said. "I was watching the TV, and they showed her with the person from Greenhill, and all I heard was 'border collie' and that's all I needed to hear."
Barbara grabbed her keys and jumped in the car. Fifteen minutes later, she was outside of Greenhill Humane Society waiting for her Angel.
"I just can't get over it," she said. "What an answered prayer."
