Driver killed in head-on collision with school bus
By Anita Kissee and KATU Web StaffNEAR SCAPPOOSE, Ore. - The driver of a car that slammed head-on into a school bus north of Scappoose was killed in the violent crash, which immediately shut down Highway 30 Wednesday afternoon. The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. about five miles north of Scappoose at Tarbell Road. Highway 30 was expected to be closed for several hours.
According to Lt. Greg Hastings with the Oregon State Police, a car hit the school bus head-on, killing the driver. The school bus driver and three kids ended up with minor injuries. They were taken to the hospital as a precaution. Another student was injured as well but was treated at the scene. The bus was carrying students from Warren Elementary School, which is in the Scappoose School Districts. Parents were notified that they could pick up their kids at the school. Earlier reports had indicated a motorcycle was involved in the crash but it now appears that is not the case. |
