Troopers seize 14 pounds of pot

State police seized 14 pounds of pot Tuesday morning.

ASHLAND, Ore. -- State police seized 14 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 Tuesday morning and arrested three people and cited a fourth on various drug charges.

At approximately 8:15 a.m. Monday, Oregon State Police troopers from the Central Point Area Command office stopped a 2003 Dodge Neon with Oregon license plates for a traffic violation on I-5 near milepost 11. 

The two occupants were identified as driver Estella Lopez, 48, and passenger Jaime Hernandez, 37, both from Fort Bragg, Calif. 

Subsequent investigation led to troopers finding approximately 14 pounds of Marijuana in the car with an estimated value of $60,000.

Additional information led to the stop of an associated vehicle occupied by driver Cesar Hernandez Ornelas, 20, from Beaverton, Ore., and passenger Jaime Hernandez Rico, 33, from Burlington, Wash.

Troopers arrested and lodged three of the four people in Jackson County Jail:

* Estella Lopez arrested for Unlawful Possession and Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana

* Cesar Hernandez Ornelas arrested for Unlawful Manufacturing, Possession, and Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana

* Jaime Hernandez Rico arrested for Unlawful Manufacturing, Possession, and Distribution of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana

The fourth person, Jaime Hernandez, was cited and released for Unlawful Possession and Distribution of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana.
