Umpqua Community College is creating a new partnership to prepare students with "job-ready" skills.

Umpqua Community College is linking up with Alcan Cable in Roseburg to assure high school and community college graduates will have the skills to get a job locally.

The partnership will have Alcan Cable managers assist in course material and provide instruction for the course in a care-linking program.

Instructors will get assistance in the classroom, at the middle school level, high school and college degree programs.

Alcan cable donated $32,000 to UCC for the "job ready" program.

UCC officials say they want to help students to be able to work locally and help improve the economy locally as well.

Alcan in Roseburg manufactures service cable and building wire for utility, residential and commerical construction markets.
