Wash. boy dead after being hit by falling TV

By Associated Press

WAPATO, Wash. (AP) - A toddler has died after being hit by a falling wide-screen television at a home in Wapato.

Wapato police Sgt. Bruce Benscoter says the 2-year-old boy had stopped breathing by the time officers arrived at the house Friday. He was pronounced dead after being taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

An autopsy shows the boy died of a basal skull fracture.

Benscoter estimates that the TV was 37 to 40 inches wide. The death was ruled an accident.
