MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - Rape charges against a former St. Mary's School coach have been dismissed.

The charges against 40-year-old Victor E. Matoush were dropped Wednesday after Jackson County prosecutors obtained new evidence that was turned over to Matoush's defense attorney.

A 38-year-old woman had accused Matoush of tying up and raping her at the end of a consensual sex encounter in June 2007.

Matoush is a a graduate of Ashland High School and Southern Oregon University who served as girls varsity basketball coach at St. Mary's for three years until March 2007.

He was hired as girls basketball coach for South Salem High School in June 2007, but his employment ended after his arrest on the Jackson County charges.
