MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. -- A south county health clinic is finally open and ready for business.

The south county clinic represents the first time public, non-profit health services are available to serve residents of Myrtle Creek, Canyonville, Riddle, Days Creek, Tiller, Azalea and Glendale.

The non-profit status allows the clinic to leverage deferal funds to reinvest in serving larger numbers of uninsured patients.

Executive Director Linda Mullins says, "It's going to be real important for access, it's difficult to get to Roseburg. We do provide the full range of medical care. People can come to us for chronic disease management or any other kind of thing they might have."

Mullins says there are physicians in the area, but they're patient load is full, and the clinic will be a be able to serve the need for patient care.

Patients are eligible for discounts based on family size and income. No one is turned away if they can't pay.

A ceremony and open house Wednesday afternoon officially opened the facility.

The clinic is located just south of downtown Myrtle Creek across from Ray's Food Market.
