Suspect being looked at in attempted assault
By Dan Bain KPIC NewsROSEBURG, Ore. -- Police are investigating the possibility that the man who is a suspect in the kidnapping of a 10-year-old girl in Eugene last week may have been the one who tried to attack a female in a downtown Roseburg business last week. Malcolm Gerlach, 25, was arrested in Eugene last week after witnesses told police he forced a 10-year-old girl into his vehicle, which was reported stolen. He was caught a short time later after a high speed chase. Gerlach had been arrested in Coos County, after he allegedly stole a car from Douglas County and crashed on Highway 42 near Coos Bay. He was cited and released from that county. Police say they're now investigating the possibility that he was the one that entered Formally Yours in downtown Roseburg and tried to force a female employee into an upstairs room. |
