U.S. Marshals arrest man wanted in Coos County on child porn charges
By KCBY.com staffBEND, Ore. -- U.S. Marshals arrested a fugitive wanted in Coos County on numerous charges related to child pornography late Thursday night at a Bend, Ore., hotel. John Calvin Hudson III, 43, faces 20 counts of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse in the first degree and 20 counts of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse in the second degree. Hudson has been missing since these charges were filed in Coos County. The charges stem from an Oregon Department of Justice Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation. Investigators say Hudson was found with computers containing numerous pornographic photos of minors. Members of the U.S. Marshals Oregon Fugitive Task Force took Hudson into custody at the Westward Ho Hotel in Bend, Ore., around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. Investigators determined Hudson had just checked into the Westward Ho Hotel and, with the assistance of the Bend Police Department, arrested Hudson as he sat in his hotel room using a recently purchased computer. The U.S. Marshals also found a large amount of cash and camping gear possibly indicating his intent to evade capture, investigators said. |
