GLENDALE, Ore. -- The Oregon State Police and Douglas County Sheriff's department are on a manhunt after one woman was shot to death and another left in critical condition in the town of Glendale.

Thursday evening, the Douglas County Sheriff's department responded to a call off Azalea Glen Road from concerned neighbors around 7:30pm.

Investigators found one woman fatally shot and another elderly woman, in critical condition. The elderly woman who lived at the residence sustained serious gunshot wounds was transported to Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass.

The second woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are currently conducting a manhunt for a suspect they believe to be armed and dangerous.

Rest areas on I-5 near mile post 81 were closed off, as the search for the Glendale shooter continues.

Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin identified about twenty-five officers from the Oregon State Police, Douglas County Sheriff's Department and the Douglas County Major Crimes Team to be on hand and that additional assistance would be arriving.

Nearby neighbors told police they did witness a suspicious man that evening.

The individual was described as a white male with facial hair. Seen wearing baggy black pants, a light blue hooded sweatshirt and carrying a backpack.

If you have any information regarding this case, you are encouraged to call the Douglas County Sheriff's Department.
